A large fire is raging in a warehouse in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk. The regional safety authority has issued an NL-Alert advising people to avoid the smoke.
The fire began around 6:45 AM today in a storage warehouse of a wood processing company, according to the fire department’s statement to Omroep West. Multiple fire units are on site, working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and no injuries have been reported. Omroep West reports flames are visible from the building, and dense smoke is being blown into nearby neighborhood streets by the wind.
The daughter of the warehouse owner told the broadcaster that everyone is safe and the fire has not spread to her parents’ nearby home.
