Explosion and Fire Damage Three Homes in Purmerend

A fire broke out in a house in Purmerend after an explosion around 4:15 AM. The blaze spread to two adjacent homes.

Footage shows flames emerging from the top floor. One person was hospitalized with injuries, while five others were treated on-site for inhaling smoke, as reported by NH Nieuws.

The street, Maasstraat, is closed as police investigate. The explosion’s cause is unknown.

Displaced residents are being accommodated nearby, though it’s unclear how many or when they can return home. District heating is temporarily cut off, leaving the neighborhood without heating.
