A youth team from football club DVV Davo in Deventer has been expelled from the competition as a disciplinary measure by the KNVB, following an incident where a game supervisor was assaulted. The game involved children around the age of seven, overseen by a game supervisor instead of referees.
The supervisor observed multiple fouls, issued two warnings, and decided to end the game early. A parent from DVV Davo disagreed and attacked the supervisor.
Sportclub Deventer filed a complaint, and the supervisor pressed charges. A 28-year-old man was arrested the same day.
Sportclub Deventer chairman, Xander van Weeteringen, condemned the incident, emphasizing their commitment to sportsmanship and safety. The football association expects DVV Davo to discuss the situation with members and submit a prevention plan within two weeks.
Sportclub Deventer reported that the assaulted supervisor is physically recovering but mentally affected, and support is being provided.
