Worst Slogan of the Year: Air Conditioning Company Wins

A company that installs air conditioning systems has been awarded the title of worst slogan of the year for “Today another satisfied customer made cold.” The selection process involves a jury choosing ten slogans, after which the public votes. The company from Warmond received a quarter of the approximately 5,000 votes cast.

Roy van Velzen from the air conditioning company explained that they’ve been using the phrase for years and recently added the word “satisfied” to it. The first prize, a blue tile with the winning slogan, will be awarded soon.

Other notable entries included a dentist’s slogan, “Thank you for choosing us,” which placed second, and the South Limburg tourist site’s “Don’t vlaai away,” which came third. The competition, now in its thirteenth year, was initiated by the editor-in-chief and a coordinator from a magazine focused on text, language, and communication.

Christine Liebrecht, a university lecturer, noted the curiosity about what makes slogans appear foolish or brilliant.
