Wildfires near Los Angeles cause fatalities and evacuations

Severe wildfires on the outskirts of Los Angeles have resulted in at least two deaths and multiple injuries, as stated by the Los Angeles fire chief during a press conference. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated.

In the upscale neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, where many celebrities reside, the fire has destroyed over 5,000 hectares and affected approximately a thousand buildings. Wildfires are also burning in other areas north of Los Angeles and remain uncontrolled.

The fire department reports difficulties due to “rough terrain” and strong winds during firefighting efforts. Seven hundred firefighters have been deployed to combat the wildfires, with one firefighter injured.

Earlier today, Governor Newsom of California declared a state of emergency.
