PVV leader Geert Wilders insists on no alterations to the asylum plans proposed by Migration Minister Faber, threatening new parliamentary elections if changes are made. Wilders emphasizes that any deviation from the proposed measures will occur without PVV support.
The government is set to discuss the new asylum package, requiring approval from VVD, NSC, and BBB. Wilders has previously negotiated with opposition parties on educational budget cuts, but believes no more compromises should be made.
The PVV promised voters the “strictest asylum regime ever,” but implementation has faced challenges. Wilders stresses fulfilling election promises, stating that if unmet, they should seek a new mandate from voters.
The proposed measures include reducing asylum permits from five to three years and potentially returning Syrians to safe areas. Wilders warns against altering short-term plans and indicates that his patience is wearing thin, although he prefers not to leave the cabinet.
