Victim Support Netherlands has aided about ninety people following explosions at Tarwekamp in The Hague, and this number is expected to rise. The blasts on December 7 resulted in six fatalities and four injuries, including three members of one family, while an 8-year-old boy from the same family survived.
The explosions and subsequent fire destroyed part of a housing block. The incidents affected many residents directly and indirectly, as they occurred in a residential area.
Team leader Connie Cornelisse stated that the lack of a safe home has hampered recovery efforts. The situation has impacted not only the immediate families but also classmates and coworkers of the victims.
People continue to seek help from the organization, even ten days after the explosion. In connection with the explosions, four men have been arrested on suspicion of arson and causing an explosion, as well as setting a car on fire.
Two of these suspects were previously apprehended on December 1 in Roosendaal, according to Omroep Brabant. A fireworks ban will be in effect around Tarwekamp during the New Year period at the request of several local residents.
