The online parking system in Utrecht is so complex that elderly and other vulnerable groups receive far fewer visitors, according to a group of caregivers at a special city council meeting yesterday. Caregivers in Utrecht report that the people they care for are receiving fewer visits from family members, leading to increased loneliness, as reported by RTV Utrecht.
Yvon Hoogendijk, director of the senior citizens’ association U op Leeftijd, stated that the system is contrary to the city’s digital inclusion policy, as many elderly people struggle to use it, leading to social exclusion. A nurse from the homecare organization Kleurrijk Zorg confirmed the rise in loneliness among the elderly.
