UN Secretary-General Guterres stated that President Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza residents to other Middle Eastern countries equates to ethnic cleansing and would make the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible. A Hamas representative called the plans ridiculous and absurd, warning that such ideas could ignite the region.
Saudi Arabia opposed the proposal, reaffirming its support for a Palestinian state including Gaza, and rejecting actions that violate Palestinian rights. Jordan and Egypt, suggested by Trump to host displaced Gazans, have not responded.
However, they previously rejected similar proposals. A joint statement from Arab countries highlighted that any plan encouraging the displacement of Palestinians undermines regional stability.
The EU and Australia’s Prime Minister Albanese reiterated their support for a two-state solution. The plans have Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s approval, and Trump suggested economic development in Gaza, describing it as the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
