Two teens arrested in Brussels after firework incident

In Brussels, police have arrested two boys suspected of involvement in a fireworks incident that resulted in a 13-year-old girl losing several fingers. In early November, heavy fireworks were thrown against the window of the girl’s home in the Belgian capital.

The window broke, and the fireworks ended up in the kitchen. The girl reportedly attempted to throw the fireworks outside, but they exploded in her hand.

She underwent surgery at the hospital, where it was determined that she would lose several fingers. According to reports from Belgian media, citing the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office, two minor boys surfaced as suspects during the investigation.

They were detained late last week. A juvenile judge has placed the boys in a community institution, a facility for troubled youth.

No further details have been released due to their minor status.
