Two Rotterdam Murders: Police Rule Out Criminal Ties

The police report that the two men from Rotterdam, who were shot dead a week apart, had no known connections to criminal activity. Investigators do not consider the incidents as a settling of scores or resulting from a criminal conflict.

The motive remains unclear. Both victims were middle-aged men shot in remote areas of Rotterdam-Zuid.

Last Saturday, a 58-year-old man was shot on Roelantpad, a bike path between Beverwaard and the A16 motorway, and later died from his injuries. A week prior, a 63-year-old man was killed on Reyerdijk.

Yesterday, a 20-year-old man from Amsterdam was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the two incidents. The police suspect he may not be the shooter.

His exact role is still being investigated.
