Two Men Arrested After Incident at Rotterdam Port

Two men, aged 18 and 20, from Rotterdam were identified by police after one of them called emergency services due to an accident. The 18-year-old was injured after falling from a container while the duo attempted to climb a building at the Maasvlakte, according to Rijnmond.

The injured man was taken to the hospital and will be detained and interrogated upon discharge, as stated by a police spokesperson. The status of his condition is unknown.

The 20-year-old was immediately arrested and questioned, though his current detention status is unclear. The men were on restricted grounds in the Rotterdam port, potentially linked to drug activity, although this requires further investigation.

“They might be ‘extractors’,” said a police representative, referring to individuals who retrieve drugs from containers for criminals, though this has yet to be confirmed. In a related event, two other Rotterdam residents, aged 15 and 18, were arrested at Waalhaven for attempting to climb a fence.

They possessed tools and multiple empty bags, and their detention status remains unknown.
