Two KLM aircraft returned to Schiphol last night after departure due to technical issues. The first flight, KL 895 to Shanghai, a Boeing 777-200, took off around 14:30 but turned back near Azerbaijan at 17:40.
KLM informed the ANP news agency that there were problems with the onboard drinking water, which needed to be fixed at Schiphol. The aircraft landed at the Dutch airport at 22:38.
The second flight, KL 835, a Boeing 777-300, was en route to Bali via Singapore. It took off at 21:45 and turned back over Germany, landing at Schiphol at 22:55.
KLM cited a technical issue but did not specify the problem. No injuries were reported.
Additionally, a KLM Boeing 737 made an emergency landing in southern Norway last weekend. According to Norwegian media, pilots saw smoke from the left engine.
KLM stated that a “loud noise was heard” during departure from Oslo and further investigation is underway.
