Two Arrested in Amsterdam for November Riots

Police have arrested two young Amsterdam residents in connection with the riots at Plein ’40-’45 on November 11. The suspects are a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man.

They are accused of public violence in the Nieuw-West district. At the time, an emergency order was in place in Amsterdam due to disturbances and violence following the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv match a few days earlier.

Rioters caused damage at Plein ’40-’45, setting a tram on fire and allegedly throwing bricks and fireworks, according to police. The riot police were deployed to restore order.
