Twelve found dead in Gudauri ski resort, likely gas poisoning

In the ski resort of Gudauri, located in northern Georgia, twelve people were found dead in a sleeping area above a restaurant. Among the deceased were eleven foreigners and one Georgian, who were likely restaurant workers.

Initial police investigations showed no signs of violence, suggesting carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death. A generator discovered near the sleeping quarters was reportedly used after the building’s power was cut off, according to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Authorities have launched a criminal investigation.
