Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against The Des Moines Register in Iowa, alleging that a poll published just before the presidential election was intended to aid Democrat Kamala Harris. The poll suggested Harris would win Iowa, although Trump later secured the state by a 13-percentage-point margin.
The lawsuit claims the poll’s three-point lead for Harris in Iowa was “election-influencing fiction.” Trump criticized the poll conducted by retired pollster Ann Selzer, accusing it of misleading readers. The newspaper’s parent company expressed confidence in facing the lawsuit.
Trump has previously filed lawsuits against media companies over unfavorable reporting, including a recent settlement with ABC News. In 2022, Trump sought $475 million from CNN over allegations of lying about election fraud, but the case was dismissed.
