Trump proposes buyout for federal workers; restricts transgender care

A week into his presidency, President Trump is actively implementing his policies. According to U.S. media, he has offered buyouts to two million federal employees to reduce government spending.

The Washington Post and NBC News report that the White House emailed about two million federal employees, offering them the option to resign while retaining their salary until September 30. However, employees in immigration, national security, military, and postal services are exempt from this offer.

Employees are encouraged to accept the offer by next Thursday. An official told NBC News that an estimated 5 to 10 percent of federal workers might accept the offer, potentially saving about $100 billion.
