Train Disruption Between Schiphol and Amsterdam

Train services between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena have been suspended due to a damaged overhead wire. The disruption is expected to last until 16:00.

The NS advises travelers to use the Amsterdam metro. Passengers from Amersfoort and Hilversum can travel to Schiphol via Amsterdam Central Station.

Additionally, there are no intercity trains between Schiphol and Leiden Central, and fewer intercity direct trains between Schiphol and Rotterdam Central. According to a ProRail spokesperson, “The train that damaged the overhead wire at RAI station is still on the platform.

It is a challenging situation to remove the vehicle safely.” This disruption coincides with scheduled maintenance at Amsterdam Zuid station, which began yesterday. Travelers should expect busier platforms and trains and an adjusted timetable until the work concludes at 05:00 tomorrow.

ProRail confirms that the disruption and maintenance are unrelated.
