Yilmaz Bakir, 55, recently returned home after a hospital stay following an explosion at Tarwekamp in The Hague. Early Saturday morning, Bakir and his girlfriend Nadia were in Bar Rosa’s basement when the blast occurred.
The building was destroyed. Bakir described hearing a strange noise before the explosion, which he initially ignored.
After the explosion, he managed to survive by crawling through a hole in the ceiling until the fire department rescued him. Nadia remains hospitalized but is improving.
Six people died in the incident, although they were not in the café. The police have arrested three individuals suspected of involvement and seized several vehicles.
Investigations continue, and further arrests may occur.
