An 81-year-old man was shot this morning in the Rotterdam district of IJsselmonde. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Bystanders found the man lying on the street and called emergency services. The shooting on Bommelerwaard is the third in the district within twelve days.
Police do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrator is choosing victims at random. On December 21, a man was shot on Reyerdijk and later died from his injuries.
A week later, a 58-year-old injured Rotterdammer was found on Roelantpad in Beverwaard, who also later died in the hospital. The police have launched an investigation to determine if there is any connection between the incidents.
