Third Explosion in Almere’s John Raedeckerstraat This Week

Another explosive device detonated in John Raedeckerstraat, Almere, shortly after midnight. This marks the third explosion in the street this week, following incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Tussen de Vaarten neighborhood.

On Tuesday, a resident sustained minor injuries, and the following day, an explosive went off at the neighbor’s house. Almere’s Mayor Hein van der Loo had ordered the closure of the affected house yesterday evening, according to Omroep Flevoland.

Shortly after, another explosion occurred. Van der Loo described the perpetrators’ actions as “unheard of.” It remains unconfirmed whether the latest explosion targeted the closed property.

Local residents previously told the regional broadcaster that Tuesday’s attack was a ‘mistaken identity’ incident, leading to the subsequent explosion at the neighbor’s house. The police have yet to comment on this or any possible motives.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service was deployed last night, and an ambulance was on standby. No injuries were reported.

According to data obtained by Omroep Flevoland from the police, a total of 86 explosives went off in Flevoland last year, more than doubling the previous year’s figures, with most incidents occurring in Almere.
