Residents of the apartment building in The Hague, which collapsed last month due to an explosion, will have temporary housing for the next six months. This was reported by Omroep West.
Initially, housing corporation Staedion arranged temporary accommodations until January 15. Now, a long-term solution has been found.
The explosion left fifteen families homeless. Three of these families found alternative housing themselves, while temporary accommodations needed to be arranged for the remaining twelve families.
Currently, they live in Staedion’s guest houses, originally intended for tenants whose homes are being renovated. Eight households can remain there for the coming months or will receive another guest house from Staedion.
“Four households have been offered a guest house from Haag Wonen,” a Staedion spokesperson told Omroep West. The families were informed today about the offer to stay longer in the guest houses.
“Next week, appointments will be made with the affected households for viewings.” Six people died in the explosion. A 45-year-old father, a 41-year-old mother, and their 17-year-old daughter from one family did not survive, while their 8-year-old son was the sole survivor.
Three men aged 31, 44, and 63 were also killed by the explosion, and several others were injured. The explosion was likely targeted at the bridal shop on the ground floor.
Four men have been arrested, one of whom is the ex-partner of the shop’s owner.
