Syrians celebrate fall of Assad’s regime; EU aids with air bridge

During the first Friday prayer since the fall of dictator Assad, tens of thousands of people in Syria took to the streets to celebrate the overthrow of his regime. The leader of the rebel group HTS urged the Syrian people in a video to “celebrate the triumph of the revolution.” Thousands gathered at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, with people traveling from across the country to participate in the prayer, according to Al-Jazeera.

The new acting prime minister was also present. In other cities, people gathered in large squares to celebrate Assad’s downfall.
