Swiss plane makes emergency landing in Austria

A Swiss aircraft made an emergency landing at Graz Airport in Austria yesterday due to engine issues and smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The flight had departed from Bucharest, Romania, in the afternoon, with Zurich as its final destination.

Onboard were 74 passengers and 5 crew members, according to Swiss Airlines. One crew member was airlifted to a hospital in Graz, with Swiss expressing concern about the individual’s condition.

Witnesses told Austrian media that the person was taken away unconscious. The airport was closed following the emergency landing, and local media reported that the aircraft was still on the runway by the end of the evening.

Passengers and crew were accommodated in Graz. The cause of the smoke is still under investigation.
