The American suspect in the murder of the CEO of the nation’s largest health insurer has been extradited to New York. Luigi Mangione was transported under heavy police guard from Pennsylvania, where he was detained.
He is accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealth Group, earlier this month in front of a Manhattan hotel. Thompson was due to speak at an investor event for the company.
Mangione was arrested five days later in Pennsylvania. Initially resisting extradition, Mangione agreed to it yesterday during a hearing.
He was transferred to twelve NYPD officers who escorted him to a plane bound for Long Island, from where he was flown to Manhattan.
