Supreme Court denies Trump’s delay request in hush-money case

Donald Trump will receive the final verdict today in his hush-money case. The Supreme Court denied his request for a delay.

It is already clear that Trump will not face jail time or a fine; the court will confirm only that a crime was committed. In June, a jury found Trump guilty, marking him as the first president convicted in a criminal case.

The case involves a $130,000 payment to actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. While paying hush money is not illegal, Trump allegedly concealed it as legal expenses in his records during the 2016 presidential election.

His lawyers sought to prevent the penalty announcement ten days before his second inauguration, fearing it would disrupt the event. The announcement was previously postponed to avoid influencing the elections.

The Supreme Court justices were divided, with five in favor of proceeding with the case and four against.
