In the United Kingdom, storm Darragh resulted in the deaths of two men. Hundreds of thousands are without power in both the UK and Ireland.
The fatalities occurred in Birmingham and Lancashire, where falling trees hit their cars. Wind gusts have been severe, reaching 154 km/h at Berry Head on the south coast, and around 150 km/h on the north coast of Wales.
Currently, 259,000 individuals are without electricity due to the storm, and network staff face challenges in restoring power in hard-hit regions due to unsafe conditions. Flights were canceled at Bristol and Cardiff airports, and train services in Wales were suspended on Saturday.
Numerous events, including the Winter Wonderland attraction in London’s Hyde Park and the football match between Everton and Liverpool, were canceled. The peak of the storm has passed, but a yellow weather warning remains until early evening.
