Snowfall Expected in Southeast Netherlands Tonight

Snow is forecasted to begin this evening in the southeast of the Netherlands, with the first snowfall expected in southern Limburg. Overnight and into the next morning, (wet) snow is anticipated in North Brabant and the southeast of Gelderland.

Limburg could see up to 8 centimeters of snow, while North Brabant and southeastern Gelderland may receive between 2 to 5 centimeters, with local variations. Due to the snow, roads may become slippery.

The KNMI has issued a yellow warning for slipperiness for these three provinces. The warning will be effective from 6 PM tonight in Limburg and from 2 AM overnight for Gelderland and North Brabant.

Travelers and drivers should anticipate delays on roads and railways, with the slipperiness persisting until tomorrow afternoon. The snow is expected to move towards Germany by midday.

Earlier today, the KNMI had already warned about slipperiness across almost the entire country, with particularly dangerous conditions in the east. Two fatalities occurred due to car accidents: a 48-year-old man crashed into a tree near Rossum in Gelderland, and a 57-year-old driver died after skidding off the road and into the water in Musselkanaal, Groningen.
