On the A17 near Roosendaal, a truck carrying beets overturned, scattering beets across the road. It is unclear if the accident was caused by slippery conditions.
The highway is closed in both directions. The snowfall is also affecting air travel, with Schiphol canceling numerous flights as shown on its website.
Travelers are warned of delays and advised to monitor current flight information. Snowplows at Schiphol are working to clear runways.
The KNMI warns of slippery conditions and reduced visibility, with 3 to 5 centimeters of snow expected in central Netherlands. The wintry precipitation is expected to be brief, turning to rain by mid-morning as milder air arrives, with temperatures reaching around 10 degrees Celsius by the end of the day.
