Two people died and eighteen were injured when a small plane crashed into a furniture company in southern California. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM local time in Fullerton.
According to police, the aircraft went down as it approached the runway at the city’s airport, puncturing part of the company’s roof, where at least 200 people were working. The plane, a single-engine Van’s RV-10, can seat four people and is available as a kit from the manufacturer.
Shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported returning for an emergency landing. It is still unknown whether the fatalities were among those on the plane or factory workers.
The victims’ identities have not been released. Nearby businesses were evacuated by the fire department.
Fullerton is located about 40 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles and has approximately 140,000 residents.
