Six months demanded in Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv violence case

In the first trial concerning violence during the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv match, a six-month prison sentence, with three months suspended, has been demanded against a suspect. Nineteen-year-old Lucas D. is the first of five suspects to appear in court today.

The prosecution claims that D. possessed illegal fireworks near the stadium and participated in a Snapchat group advocating violence. He is also accused of being part of a group that threw stones at police officers near the stadium.

Following the match on Thursday, November 7, Israelis were chased, attacked, and assaulted by rioters in various parts of the city. The attacks sparked both national and international outrage and allegations of antisemitism.

The Amsterdam court is set to deliver its verdict on December 24.
