Tens of thousands of people in New South Wales, Australia, are without electricity following severe wind and rain. There are flood warnings in the Sydney area due to the potential for heavy rainfall within a short period.
Approximately 28,000 people in Sydney and an additional 15,000 in nearby areas are currently without power. Emergency services have received nearly 3,000 calls since yesterday about fallen trees and property damage.
Emergency Minister McAllister described the situation as unpredictable and advised residents in affected areas to stay informed and follow the guidance of emergency services. Earlier this week, storms knocked down trees and power lines, leaving 200,000 people without power.
On Wednesday, an 80-year-old man in Cowra died when a tree fell on his car.
