Serious Request, the annual fundraising event by NPO 3FM, has raised €5,135,904 in three days to support children with metabolic diseases. This indicates that the radio DJs collected over €1.2 million in the past 24 hours.
Yesterday, the interim total stood at €3,881,622. This year’s Glass House is located at Rodetorenplein in Zwolle, where DJs remain confined all week while visitors donate money and request songs.
The venue is crowded, prompting the municipality to occasionally close access. Last year, the fundraiser’s three-day total was approximately €1.8 million, finishing at €7.5 million for ALS Foundation, the highest since 2016.
This year, funds go to Metakids, supporting research into metabolic diseases, which are among the deadliest childhood illnesses, with one in four patients not reaching 18 years. Four-year-old Jelte’s family celebrates his birthday monthly due to the uncertainty of his lifespan.
This marks the 21st edition of Serious Request. The event raised a record €12.3 million in 2014 for victims of sexual violence in conflict areas.
The fundraiser continues until Christmas Eve when DJs Wijnand Speelman, Sophie Hijlkema, and Barend van Deelen will exit the Glass House.
