Serious accident on Schipholweg leaves three injured

Three people were injured in a serious accident on Schipholweg in Lijnden early this morning when two cars collided. According to the police, two individuals sustained severe injuries.

The first reports reached emergency services shortly before 6:00 a.m., and the accident occurred at an intersection with traffic lights. The police are investigating the incident.

A photographer on site reported the collision happened at the intersection of Schipholweg and Amsterdamse Baan, near the A9 entrance. Due to the investigation, the A9 exit at the Raasdorp junction toward Badhoevedorp is closed, as is the N232 towards Amstelveen near the Schuilhoeve industrial area.

One car came to a halt against a traffic light pole and had to be cut open by the fire department to free the occupants, removing both the roof and the doors. The other car was heavily damaged, and according to the on-site photographer, the driver was slightly injured and conscious, according to police.

The cause of the collision is not yet clear, but the KNMI had issued a yellow warning for fog across the country last night, which remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. in many areas.

The fog can reduce visibility to less than 200 meters, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and increase distance from other vehicles.

Additional accidents occurred last night, including a car off the road on the N391 near Roswinkel and a collision on the A1 near Holten, but it is unclear if these were related to the fog.
