A security guard from the Dutch Railways was assaulted on Saturday afternoon at Tilburg station, according to the police. A 34-year-old man from Boxtel has been arrested.
The police reported that the man was bothering people at the station, and the NS security guard confronted him. The suspect then quickly struck the guard on the nose, as stated by a police spokesperson.
The guard did not require hospital treatment. The suspect was restrained by a bystander and the security guard and subsequently arrested by the police.
He spent the night at the police station and was questioned today. For assaults on public service workers, the Public Prosecution Service can demand harsher penalties, and NS security guards are included in this category.
