Cooking, sports, games, and conversations are available at a primary school near Tarwekamp in The Hague during the Christmas holidays. De Leeuwerikhoeve aims to remain open around the festive period to provide students with “stability and calm” after recent explosions.
Many children at the school experienced the events, where six people died, by witnessing the flames or smelling the smoke, while some knew victims. School principal Rob van der Gaag notes that the school has provided routine over recent weeks, allowing children to find stability and calm.
The incident has been discussed in classrooms, with hugs given and drawings made for firefighters and police.
