Russian missile expert Mikhail Shatsky was reportedly shot dead near Moscow, according to multiple Ukrainian media outlets citing sources within Ukrainian security services. He was allegedly killed by Ukraine’s military intelligence service.
Anti-Kremlin journalist Aleksandr Nevzorov also reported Shatsky’s death on his Telegram channel, stating that eyewitnesses saw the scientist shot in a park on Tuesday evening around 9:00 p.m. Shatsky was the chief designer of new missile technology at the Experimental Design Bureau Mars, meant for use in Russian cruise missiles and drones.
He also taught at the Moscow Aviation Institute and was instrumental in applying artificial intelligence to missiles and aircraft. A source in the Ukrainian intelligence services described Shatsky as a “legitimate target” due to his involvement in drones and aircraft used in Ukraine.
The Kremlin has not yet officially commented on reports of Shatsky’s death.
