Two crew members are missing after a Russian cargo ship sank in the Mediterranean Sea, between Spain and Algeria, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The incident was caused by an explosion in the engine room, reports Reuters, though the cause remains unclear.
Fourteen out of the sixteen crew members were rescued and transported to Spain. The ship is managed by a Russian logistics company and was reportedly delivering goods to the Russian military.
The cargo vessel departed from Saint Petersburg twelve days ago, bound for the port city of Vladivostok, intending to transport harbor crane parts for installation in Vladivostok.
