Residents of Hooghalen, a village in Drenthe, have been receiving dozens of bank cards in the mail for months. ING suspects fraud and is taking action, a spokesperson told RTV Drenthe.
Dairy farmer Derk Talens reported receiving 22 envelopes containing bank cards. “We don’t know what to do with them or why they keep coming to us,” he told the broadcaster last week.
Other recipients live on the same street in Hooghalen. “I’ve received seven more letters since Tuesday,” said Bianca Wagt.
“They just keep coming.” The Westerbork Memorial Center, also in Hooghalen, received multiple bank cards followed by PIN codes. A spokesperson on Friday said it was unclear whether ING made a mistake or if it was a scam.
Several residents have filed police reports.
