Qbuzz Faces Challenges Taking Over Friesland Bus Services

Qbuzz is set to take over regional bus services in Friesland from Arriva tomorrow, promising increased service, especially in rural areas. However, there are concerns from the FNV union about inadequate staffing, buses, and depots.

Edwin Kuiper from the FNV stated that the services and staffing are not ready. Despite promises of more buses in rural areas, Kuiper fears the new schedule is precarious.

Qbuzz plans to bring in drivers from Groningen and Drenthe to compensate for staffing shortages. New buses ordered by Qbuzz have yet to arrive, leading to the temporary use of 36 touring buses.

Additionally, depot issues arose, as Arriva retained most depots, forcing Qbuzz to find alternatives. Temporary facilities, including portable toilets, are in use, causing dissatisfaction among drivers.

The province insists Qbuzz must adhere to the contract terms despite initial challenges. The transition in South Holland also faces difficulties due to bus shortages, with free travel offered until December 22 as compensation.
