The Public Prosecution Service has introduced new evidence in the case of the 18-year-old Ryan’s death. An audio clip features her brother, suspect Mohamed Al N., conversing with his uncle, as reported by Omrop Fryslân.
Al N. is heard saying, “I swear, she wants to humiliate us,” regarding his sister. His uncle tries to dissuade him, suggesting Ryan needs someone to talk to rather than escalating to violence.
Ryan’s body was discovered in May in a marsh near the Oostvaardersplassen. She had been strangled, with her hands bound and her mouth and nose taped.
The prosecution suspects brothers Mohamed and Muhanad Al N. and their father of premeditated murder. Family tensions reportedly stemmed from Ryan’s perceived Western behavior.
She had previously reported abuse and threats from her father, and one brother expressed that her actions on TikTok dishonored the family. The brothers deny involvement, claiming their father, who is believed to have fled to Syria, is responsible.
He has admitted the act in letters to Dutch newspapers. The audio strengthens suspicions against the brothers, and they remain in custody pending a court session on January 7.
