Possible exposure to carcinogens at Century Aluminum

There is potential evidence indicating that employees at Century Aluminum in Vlissingen-Oost may have been exposed to carcinogenic substances for varying periods. Omroep Zeeland, in collaboration with the TV program Zembla, investigated previous complaints by a former employee.

In the report, set to air tomorrow night, a Zembla journalist questions the current site manager about potential exposure. He responds that employees “probably did” face risks due to carcinogenic substances.

Century Aluminum, part of a larger conglomerate, produces anodes, which are large carbon blocks used in the company’s smelting processes in Iceland.
