Police seek suspect in Rotterdam assaults

The police are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting multiple women in Rotterdam. Since mid-November, six reports of assaults have been filed with the police.

The incidents occurred in the city center and the northern part of the city, primarily during nighttime outings and early mornings. Three victims have filed official complaints.

The police have a “strong suspicion” that the same perpetrator is responsible in all cases and are urgently looking for the man. The police’s sex crimes unit has launched an investigation, which has produced camera footage showing the suspect.

The police said, “We are sharing these images in hopes that people will recognize the man.” A wanted notice includes a description and a photo of the suspect, who is reportedly between 25 and 40 years old and mainly travels by bicycle. Besides witnesses, the police are also calling on any additional victims to come forward.

They acknowledge the profound impact of such assaults and urge victims to report. “All information can assist in this case,” the police stated.

Last week, the police made an urgent call for women to be extra vigilant, according to broadcaster Rijnmond. “This call was made because all victims in these cases are women,” the police said.

“However, everyone should be alert to suspicious situations.”
