Plane Crash at Muan Airport in South Korea

A plane has crashed while landing at the airport in Muan, South Korea, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap. The aircraft reportedly carried 175 passengers and six crew members.

It is said to have veered off the runway and collided with a wall. Emergency services have responded in large numbers.

Local authorities reported that firefighters managed to extinguish the fire “at an early stage.” The flight was operated by Jeju Air, originating from Bangkok, Thailand, and headed to Muan, South Korea. Social media images show large black smoke plumes over the airport.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m. local time.

There is no information yet on casualties, though there are fears of severe consequences.
