North Korea conducts missile test amid rising tensions

North Korea conducted a test of multiple cruise missiles yesterday, marking the third such test this year. The South Korean military confirmed the test, stating that several missiles were launched towards the Yellow Sea at around 4 p.m.

local time on Saturday. According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, the missiles traveled 1,500 kilometers and hit their targets, describing it as a test of an “important weapons system.” The agency reported that leader Kim Jong-un personally oversaw the test.

Kim stated that North Korea’s defense capabilities are being “thoroughly perfected” and affirmed the country’s commitment to defending stability with enhanced military strength. Earlier this month, North Korea claimed to have tested a new hypersonic missile.
