New Orleans Attacker Acted Alone, Authorities Confirm

The perpetrator of the New Orleans attack acted alone, according to the city administration’s announcement at a press conference. On New Year’s Eve, a pickup truck drove into a crowd on the busy Bourbon Street, resulting in at least fourteen fatalities and thirty injuries.

The attacker, 42-year-old American veteran Sahmsud Din Jabbar, was fatally shot by police during a gunfight. Initially, intelligence and police suggested Din Jabbar may have collaborated with others, but the FBI has concluded he acted solo.

The intelligence service also confirmed that the driver was inspired by the terrorist organization IS, as the group’s flag was found in his vehicle, and the FBI discovered videos on social media expressing his support for IS.
