Minister supports replacing labels with QR codes

Minister Beljaarts of Economic Affairs has expressed support for a call by Dutch supermarkets to replace labels with QR codes, which would eliminate the need for producers to provide ingredient and nutritional information in Dutch on packaging. Consumers would need to scan a code to access this information.

Beljaarts has been advocating for this change in Brussels since the summer, hoping that the absence of labels will lead to lower product prices. However, consumer organization ANBO PCOB deems the proposal undesirable.
