Memorial Center for Het Apeldoornsche Bosch Reopens

During World War II, the Jewish psychiatric institution Het Apeldoornsche Bosch was initially considered relatively safe. However, on the night of January 21-22, 1943, 1,131 Jewish patients and staff were deported to Auschwitz, where most were immediately killed.

To commemorate this tragic history, a newly renovated memorial center is being inaugurated this evening.
