Massive Waves Propel Eddie Aikau Surf Event in Oahu

The northern coast of Oahu, Hawaii, offered ideal conditions for professional surfers this weekend, featuring waves up to 20 meters high. The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, one of the largest surf events globally, took place yesterday for the eleventh time in forty years.

The prestigious event occurs only when waves reach at least 40 feet (12.19 meters) between December and March. Conditions met the criteria this Sunday, and participants were notified 48 hours in advance.

Surfers from around the world quickly traveled to Hawaii to compete.
