Mango founder Isak Andic dies in hiking accident

The founder and owner of the Spanish fashion chain Mango, Isak Andic, has died in a hiking accident. He slipped and fell 150 meters while hiking in the caves of Collbató, approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Barcelona.

The 71-year-old businessman was hiking with family when he lost his balance, and his body was later recovered by rescue teams. The director of Mango described Andic as an exemplary figure whose death leaves a significant void, praising his strategic vision and leadership.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez acknowledged Andic’s contribution to making Mango a global fashion brand. Born in Istanbul, Andic moved to Catalonia as a teenager and founded Mango in 1984, opening the first store in Barcelona.

He was one of Spain’s wealthiest individuals, with Forbes estimating his net worth at over 4.2 billion euros. Mango operates over 2,500 stores in 120 countries, selling clothing for women, men, and children.
